Terms of service
What you can expect from PeerForge and what we expect from you. Written to be read, not to be survived.
Last updated 31 August 2026.
1Who you are agreeing with
PeerForge is a service of Smidt Beheer, an eenmanszaak (sole proprietorship), registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce (KvK) under number 99124254, at Binnendelta 11M, 1261 WZ Blaricum, the Netherlands. In these terms “we” and “us” mean that business, and “you” means the person or organisation using the service.
Payments are not taken by us. Our reseller Paddle.com Market Ltd is the merchant of record for every paid plan: they sell the subscription to you, they charge and remit VAT, and their own terms apply to the transaction itself. Refunds are described in our refund policy.
2What the service does
PeerForge publishes documents — HTML and Markdown, usually written by an AI assistant — at a permanent web address, lets people comment on specific sentences in them, and returns those comments to whoever or whatever is editing the document. Published documents are served from a separate domain that holds no login session, which is what allows them to run their own scripts safely.
We may change how the service works. If a change removes something you are paying for, you may cancel under clause 8 and we will refund the unused part of the term.
3Accounts
You need an account to publish into a workspace that lasts. You are responsible for what happens under your account and for keeping your sign-in address secure. Tell us at hello@peerforge.app if you think somebody else is using it.
You must be old enough to enter a contract where you live. If you are using PeerForge for an organisation, you confirm you are allowed to agree to these terms on its behalf.
API keys act as your account. Anyone holding one can publish, read and comment as you, so treat a key like a password and revoke it from your dashboard if it leaks.
4Publishing without an account
You can publish without signing up. Those documents are limited in size, are rate limited per network, and are deleted automatically after 30 days unless you claim them with the private link we give you at the time. That link is the only proof of ownership — we cannot recover it, and we will not hand a document to somebody who asks for it without one.
5What you publish stays yours
You keep every right you already have in what you publish. You give us only the permission we need to run the service: to store your documents, to serve them to the people you have shared them with, to make copies for backup, and to show them to you. That permission ends when you delete the document or close your account.
We do not use your documents to train models, and we do not read them except where it is necessary to operate the service, to fix a fault you have reported, or where the law requires it.
6What you may not publish
Nothing unlawful, and nothing you do not have the right to publish. In particular, do not use PeerForge to host malware or phishing pages, to impersonate somebody, to publish material that sexually exploits children, to harass a person, or to distribute somebody else's personal data without a lawful reason.
Published documents run their own scripts inside a sandbox in the reader's browser. Do not use that to attack the reader, to mine cryptocurrency, or to attempt to break out of the sandbox or reach anything else in their browser.
Do not attempt to read documents you have not been given access to, to work around the rate limits, or to overload the service.
We can remove a document or suspend an account that breaks this clause. Where we reasonably can, we will tell you why and give you a chance to put it right first; where the breach is serious or ongoing we may act immediately.
7Plans, prices and payment
Prices are shown on the pricing page and are per workspace, not per person. Paid plans are billed monthly in advance by Paddle, who add VAT at the rate applying where you are. A subscription renews automatically until you cancel it.
The Free plan is free and we intend to keep it that way. If we raise the price of a paid plan we will tell you at least 30 days before it takes effect, and you can cancel before then.
If a payment fails we will keep your workspace on its current plan for a short grace period while Paddle retries. After that it returns to the free plan and its limits. Nothing is deleted for non-payment.
8Cancelling, and getting your documents out
You can cancel at any time from your workspace settings. The plan runs to the end of the period you have paid for and then stops; we do not lock you out on the day you cancel.
Every document you have published is a file at a URL you already have. Before you close an account, download what you want to keep — we are not able to retrieve it afterwards.
We can end this agreement with 30 days' notice, refunding the unused part of any term, or immediately if you break clause 6.
9Availability
We try hard to keep PeerForge running and we do not promise that it always will be. The service is provided as it is. We do not guarantee that it is free of faults, that it suits a particular purpose of yours, or that documents will always be reachable.
Keep your own copy of anything you cannot afford to lose. We take backups, and a backup is not a promise.
10Liability
Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law — including death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or our own fraud.
Beyond that, our total liability to you for anything arising out of this agreement is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or €100 if you paid us nothing. We are not liable for lost profits, lost business, or lost or corrupted data beyond that amount.
If you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected by anything in these terms.
11Changes to these terms
We may change these terms. If a change materially affects you we will tell you by email or in the app at least 30 days beforehand, and continuing to use PeerForge after that means you accept it. If you would rather not, cancel and we will refund the unused part of your term.
12Law and disputes
Dutch law applies, and disputes go to the competent court in the Netherlands. If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of the law where you live, and you may bring a claim in your own country's courts.
Please write to hello@peerforge.app first. Almost everything is quicker to settle that way, and we would rather fix a problem than argue about one. Consumers in the EU may also use the European Commission's online dispute resolution platform.
Questions about any of this go to hello@peerforge.app. The other two: Terms, Privacy, Refunds.
